Kathryn “Kay” J. Wesley, 90, of Alton passed away at 11:05 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born to the late Harry and Nina (Brooks) Baker on November 12, 1926, in Stoughton, Wisconsin. On June 11, 1947, she married Gerald J. Wesley in Bunker Hill, IL. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2003.Kay was a member of the former St. Matthews Catholic Church where she was an active member of the Altar Society; she was currently a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey and was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame.Survivors include two daughters, Wanda L. (John) Halliday of Bellevue, Nebraska and Melanie A. (David) Strowmatt of Alton; one son, Thomas (Linda) Wesley of Alton, a daughter-in-law, Susan M. Wesley of Clinton, IL; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Baker of Lake Montezuma, Arizona; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Gerald “Jerry” L. Wesley, her daughter, Nancy Jo Wesley, her brother, Malchus Baker, and her sister, Phyllis Wisch.A prayer service will be Thursday November 2, 2017 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton at 4:00 pm followed by visitation 4:30pm – 7:00 pm.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey with Father Steven Janoski as celebrant.Burial will follow at Saints Simon and Jude Cemetery in Gillespie, Illinois.Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.staten-fine.com
