Louise Simburger, 86, of East Alton, IL, died at 5:37 p.m. Wed. Jan. 7, 2015 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton, IL.
She was born Sept. 7, 1928 in Brookfield, MO to the late Marion & Donna Viola Higgins.
On Oct. 26, 1946, she and Harold O. Simburger were married in Litchfield, IL. He survives in East Alton.
Louise was a homemaker and had worked at Olin Winchester for a short time. Her greatest love was her family and she worked with her husband at their boat store, “Harold’s Place”, in Wood River, IL. She also served as a scorekeeper for the American Power Boat Association and was an avid genealogist.
In addition to her husband of 68 years, she is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, Lynn & Phyllis Simburger of Elsah, IL, a special niece, Susan Aumann of Nokomis, IL and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: a half-brother, John Pipken and a cousin, who was like a mother to her, Jesse “Bebe” McNiece.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sun. Jan. 11, 2015 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be at 10:00 a.m. Mon. Jan. 12, 2015 with Fr. Joe Simburger. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL.
