Mamie L. Gilchrest ,96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 1,2017 at Bethalto
Care Center, in Bethalto, Illinois with her family by her side. Born March 7, 1920, in Forrest City, Arkansas, she was the oldest daughter of George W. Moore and
Leanna (Hyman) Moore. She was a homemaker and domestic worker as well. On May 8, 1941, she married Steve J. Gilchrest in St. Charles, Missouri. She is survived by: three
daughters, Carlyn Gilchrest, Rose Hardimon both of Alton, and Mamie L. Williams of Denver,
Colorado; two sons, George C. Gilchrest and Harry J. Gilchrest both of Seattle Washington. She was preceded in death: by her parents; a daughter, Ruth Kay; a son, Herman J. Gilchrest; two brothers,
Earl J. Wesson and Arthur Wesson, Jr.; 4 sisters, Anna Lee Wesson, Annabelle Standford, Annie M. House and
Evelyn Hall; stepfather Arthur Wesson, Sr., stepmother, Fannie E. Moore; and stepbrother, Verlin W.
Moore. Visitation will convene Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Deliverance Temple Church of God in Christ. Interment will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery. Bishop Samuel E. White will eulogize.
