Marilyn Coulson

Marilyn M. Coulson, nee, Lombardi, age 83 of Granite City, Illinois, born December 2, 1940, in Granite City, Illinois, died 25th day, February 2024 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Illinois.

Marilyn Coulson was a lifelong resident of Granite City, Illinois, and a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Granite City, Illinois. Mrs. Coulson was a cheerleader, May Queen and a graduate of the class of 1958 of Granite City Senior High School.  She also was employed by Lybarger Material Company of Granite City, Illinois for twenty-four years where she retired in 1982.  She married the love of her life C. Edward Coulson on May 7, 1982, at the Presbyterian Church in Collinsville, Illinois.

Marilyn Coulson was an outstanding dancer and singer.  Her friends knew her by her pleasant and warm personality and smile. She never knew a stranger. She was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.  She like to dine out and meet people.  Her favorite enjoyment was going to mass at St. Elizabeth’s Church on Saturday night and then dining out at Bella Milano’s restaurant in Edwardsville, Illinois. She loved all the workers and owners of Bella Milano’s.  She also loved her high heel shoes, jewelry and loved to shop.

Marilyn Coulson, along with her husband, C. Edward Coulson, brother-in-law, George R. Barker, Sr. and sister, Carolyn A. (nee Lombardi) Barker formed the operation called Coulson/Barker Oldsmobile-Cadillac-GMC Trucks, Ltd. 3550 Homer Adams Parkway, Alton, Illinois on May 7, 1991.  Marilyn Coulson was the secretary of Coulson/Barker for 13 years until it closed on April 30, 2004.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arcolino A. “Yock” Lombardi and her mother, Hilda V. (nee, Turck) Lombardi, a sister Carolyn A. (nee, Lombardi) Barker, a brother-in-law, George R. Barker, Sr., a son, Mark E. Price and a son-in-law, William “Billy” Hasty, Jr.

Surviving are her husband, C. Edward Coulson, a daughter Becki (William O. “Billy”, Jr.) Hasty, and a daughter-in-law, Janet (Mark) Price of Granite City, Illinois.  Three grandchildren, Brittani Lee (George Andrew “Drew”) Craft, Granite City, Illinois Kyle Edward Price and Kacie Lynn Price of Granite City, Illinois and four great granddaughters, Layla May Craft of Granite City, Illinois, Madisyn Ann Jaycox, Jordyn Lynn Jaycox, and Emersyn June Jaycox of Granite City, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church is Granite City, Illinois.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Irwin Chapel on Maryville Rd, in Granite City, Illinois. A 10:00 a.m. funeral service will be held at Irwin Chapel  on Friday, March 1, 2024, with Marsha Chomko officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville, Illinois.
