Mary Arnold

JERSEYVILLE-  Mary Elizabeth Arnold, 78, died at 5:55 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.She was born in Corner Brook, New Foundland, Canada, on Dec.5, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Thomas & Theresa (Ackins) Lee.She met Joe H. Arnold of Jerseyville, while he was stationed in Canada with the U.S. Air Force, and the two married on July 28, 1962 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville.  Together they were blessed with 52 years of marriage, and spent the majority of their time raising their two children in the Downers Grove, IL. prior to relocating to Jerseyville in 2008.Surviving are her husband, Joe H. Arnold of Jerseyville; a daughter & son in law, Lori Ann & Michael Balsamo of Downers Grove; a son & daughter in law, Steven Lee & Catherine Arnold of Naperville; seven grandchildren, Vincent, Matthew, Daniel, Dominic, and Shelby Balsamo, and Elliana & Mei Arnold.  Mary also came from a very large and loving family, with many of her brothers & sisters still residing in Canada.In addition to her parents, and several brothers & sisters, she was preceded in death by her godmother and stepmother, Gertrude (Gould) Lee.Visitation will begin with a Rosary recitation at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, and will conclude with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both conducted by Father Patrick Gibbons.Cremation will take place after the services and a memorial service & burial will take place in Downers Grove at a later date.Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
