Richard J. "Dick" Folsom, 85, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Eunice C. Smith Home in Alton.
Born Aug. 20, 1932 in Chicago, IL, he was a son of Frank and Ruth (Murphy) Folsom.
He married Nina J. Hester on Aug. 11, 1956.
Dick founded Folsom Distributing in Wood River in 1958 and operated the business until his "informal retirement". He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Past President of the Wood River Chamber of Commerce. He also loved to play golf and spend time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda Hervatin of Kirkwood, MO and Terri (Jim) Rogan of St. Louis; three sons, Rick (Pat) Folsom of Leesburg, TX, Jim (Tonya) Folsom of Dorsey, and Bob Folsom of Lake Ozark, MO; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Emily, Lindsey, Bethany, Kelsey, Sam, Philip, and Josh; a sister, Ruth Schwab of Franklin Park, IL; a sister-in-law, Donna Rives of Osage Beach, MO; and his nieces Barbara, Patti, Kathy, Darla, Amy, Lisa and Ellie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Folsom; a brother-in-law, Melvin Hester; and a niece Judy.
Memorial visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. Visitation will continue Friday, Aug. 24 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto from 9:45 a.m. until a memorial Mass is celebrated by Father Tom Liebler at 10:30 a.m.
