Robert "Bob" F. Stewart, age 76, went to be with the lord at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at his residence, with his family by his side.
He was born on October 29, 1933 in Henderson, MO, the son of Willis & Ruth Mae (Umfleet) Stewart.
He married Virginia Ann (Lewis) on August 14, 1972 in Bethalto. She survives.
Bob was employed with the Bethalto School District # 8 for over 20 years where he worked as a custodian, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Bethalto. He never met a stranger and loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann Stewart; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Sue & Bill Montgomery of Popular Bluff, MO; two sons, Bobby Stewart and his special friend Jeannie of Bethalto and Byron Stewart of Bethalto; four grandchildren, Crystal, Stacey, Jesse and Hali; two great grandchildren; one sister, Katie Neff Anderson of IN and greatly missed by several nieces, nephews and multiple friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Hazel Franklin, Ethel Franklin and Ruby Mae Dillinger and two brothers, Willis and George Stewart.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with Pastor Chip Faulkner officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be given to the funeral home in care of the family.
