Robert “Bob” Lee Bock Sr., 80, of Brighton, Ill. was escorted by God’s angels to his heavenly home May 5, 2017. Born September 21, 1936, in Alton, Ill., he was the beloved son of the late Hilbert Bock and the late Myrtle Margaret (Lawless) Bock. He was a supervisor and retired from Peavey Flour Mill in Alton, Ill. In 1955, Bob married the late Wanna Lee (McCartney) Bock. A caring father, he is survived by 4 sons, Robert Lee Bock Jr. (late Shelia), Andrew Lee Bock (Cheryl), Christopher Lee Bock (Beverly), Jeffery Lee Bock (Jamie), and a daughter Lena Lee (Bock) Hartsock(Brad). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren (2 predeceased), 26 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. A loving sibling to brothers Frank S. Bock Sr. (late Judy), James S. Bock Sr. (Diane), and to sisters Toni Y. Poore (Dave), Jaquelin S. Garrett (Frank), Alma K. Rogers (Douglas), Georgia S. Barnett, and Verna J. Delp (Byron). From his wheelchair, he turned his life into a testimony. With the will to conquer whatever obstacles came his way, Bob always prevailed with a positive attitude, gentle spirit and kind heart. To know Bob, was to know a loyal friend. To know Bob, was to know a hero. A man with a heart of gold and a love for Christ.Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery with Bishop Samuel E. White officiating. Friends and family are asked to join in a celebration of Bob’s life from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday May 10, 2017 at the VFW in Alton, Ill.
