Mayors from St. Cloud, Minnesota to Gretna, Louisiana are attending today's Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative annual meeting in St. Louis. The Initiative pulls mayors and other leaders together to discuss strategies to "create a coordinated voice for the Mississippi River."
Alton Mayor Brant Walker tells The Big Z the mayors look at the river as a whole, and is looking forward to not only sharing what's going on in Alton, but learning about some new initiatives.
Mayors and MRCTI will announce a partnership at this meeting with the Carbon Disclosure Project, the international not-for-profit organization and founder houses the world’s largest collection of self-disclosed corporate environmental data. The partnership will match Mississippi River resilience and sustainable economic development projects to a $2 trillion global investment portfolio and sign the agreement.
